The Weimar VFW Auxiliary to Post 5875 met for its regular meeting on May 13 with 12 members present. The meeting was opened according to the Ritual by President Charlene Muras.
Officers for 2025-2026 were installed by VFW Commander Frank White.
A letter from Supportourtroops was read by Secretary Marty Heinrich regarding the use of coupons (troopons) by military families overseas. Email was read by President Charlene Muras regarding the Light Legacy Program, member stats where the Auxiliary shows 105.56% and officer training.
There are currently 13 annual members and 24 life members for a total of 37 members.
Dolores Lauck reported that there were 13 veterans, 6 residents and 2 Auxiliary members present at the Men’s Coffee at Parkview on April 18. Jeanette Koenig reported that the school kid art contest winners were given their awards, patriotic books were given to Weimar Jr. High and Weimar High School, and Kasper’s and MG will be given certificates of appreciation this month. Volunteers are encouraged to help distribute food at the food pantry on May 22 at 9 a.m. On Memorial Day weekend, Buddy Poppies will be distributed at MG and Kasper’s on May 24 from 8 a.m. – 12 p.m. Linda Wick reported that she sent one get-well card this month. The district will have Wreaths Across America again this year as their main fundraiser. The next Men’s Coffee at Parkview will be on May 16.
Members signed up to distribute Buddy Poppies on May 24 at Kasper’s and MG from 8 am to noon. Members are asked to help serve the drive-through meal on May 25 and also distribute Buddy Poppies.
For the Good of the Order, Jeanette Koenig listed the following patriotic days: May 17 Armed Forces Day, May 26 Memorial Day and June 6 D-Day.
