Graduation season is in full swing as another wave of budding young adults spread their wings and take flight, putting a close to their primary school years.
High schools across both Austin County and Colorado County are set to have their graduation ceremonies take place this week, celebrating their students’ milestones of finally receiving their high school diplomas.
Brazos High School students were the first to walk the stage and toss their caps in the air at their graduation ceremony held last Friday night, May 16, 8 p.m. at Cougar Stadium.
The Valedictorian of this year’s class was Kelly Viann McDaniel while the Salutatorian was Lily Michelle Bertrand. Honor graduates include Grant Thomas Marvin, Lylah Frances Durrett, Rafael Omar Almaraz, Brayden Carter Krahn, Cheyenne Marie Michalsky, Kezia Jemima Molina, Brooke McKenzie Mora, Chloe Skye Flores, Sophia Elizabeth Vykukal, Maiya Lizabeth Nanes, Camille Ellysse Mabborang Combie and Herlani Leon Lopez.
Rice Consolidated High School and Sealy High School will both have their graduation ceremonies taking place at 8 p.m. Thursday, May 22, at their respective stadiums (Rice Memorial Stadium and T.J. Mills Stadium).
Columbus High School will kick off their graduation ceremony at 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 22 at John Massey Stadium. Doors will open at 7 p.m. for parents, while students need to arrive at the Field House by 7:30 p.m.
Students will receive a seating chart to share with parents at graduation practice, which will take place the morning of graduation at 8 a.m.
Weimar High School seniors will grace the graduation stage at 7:30 p.m. the following day, Friday, May 23 at Wildcat Stadium.
Bellville High School students will be the latest of the schools to host their graduation ceremony, set to take place at 8 p.m., Friday, May 23 at Brahma Stadium.
There will be weather contingency plans in case of inclement weather for Bellville HS’s graduation. Plan B: the graduation will take place at 3 p.m. Friday, May 23. Plan C: the graduation will take place at 9 a.m. on Saturday, May 24. Plan D: the graduation will take place on Saturday, May 24, at 6:30 p.m.
The top 10 percent of this year’s graduating class are Valedictorian Eric Shao, Salutatorian Lydia Marie Huebner, Celeste Liliana Pawelek, MacKenzie Reyna Jost, Mackenzie Leigh Schrader, Maddison Anne Diezi, Anna Rose Wieprecht, Jaylen Ashley Tesch Samantha Elaine Marik, Emily Chen, Kennedy Louise Watson, Aidan Michael Wheeler, Kerby Ellen Krueger, Ainsley Jewell Hancock, Ryan Allen Broz, Sydney Leigh Triplett, Grace Kathryn Moore, Emersyn Cate Novicke, Mabi Matea Farrell and Kathleen Marie Novak.
Faith Academy of Bellville held their graduation ceremonies for the class of 2024 May 18 at the Beth Keaton Gymnasium.
The Valedictorian of this year’s class was Lillian Leigh Kuespert. while the Salutatorian was Travis Wayne Woodley.
