Hello, everyone and welcome back to the Huddle where this week we are talking Rice Athletics.
Now Rice struggled this season in a few sports but at the same time they made big steps across all sports this season.
Let me explain, I have officially been working for this paper for two years and in those two years I have seen Rice improve the most. They had a chip on their shoulder this past season because most teams looked at Rice on the schedule and considered it an easy win.
Rice came out this season and hit a lot of teams in the mouth and started changing the narrative in opposing locker rooms. Both the Raiders and the Lady Raiders played this season with a new sense of urgency and from day one game one it was fun to watch.
Each athlete held themselves to a higher standard across all sports and they all played for one another. The results from these two changes resulted in several of Rice’s teams making the playoffs this year.
Not only that but it got seniors in the spotlight and Rice ended up having multiple seniors commit to play various sports at the college level.
This off season will be an exciting one for both the Raiders and Lady Raiders because they got a taste of success this season and they want more. They want to be a contending team, and they have all the talent and the coaches to achieve that goal.
These kids are hungry and on top of that they know they have the homegrown talent to get it done. The seniors that are leaving have laid down some strong foundation and showed the underclassmen what it means to be a Raider or a Lady Raider.
They know how much work they are going to have to do, and they are willing to do it in order to get better. There is something special brewing at Rice Consolidated high school so buy stock now in this team because they are about to ascend.
