Vets take opener against New Ulm

The Weimar Vets traveled to New Ulm to take on the fireman for their first game of the Community League 2025 season. The vets came out on top 3-1 in a tightly contested game for the whole nine innings. Trevor Brown started on the mound for 3.1 strong innings allowing no runs, only one hit while striking out four. In relief Huxton Kloesel (fresh out of WHS) threw 5.2 strong innings shutting down the New Ulm hitters allowing only four hits, one walk and striking out six for the win. A great defensive performance (no errors) kept New Ulm from scoring more with 10 runners left on base. Defensive standouts were Carson Peschel, Emerson Harvey, Jeff Osburn, Cody Barrett, Ryan Rerich and Kyle Peschel, who was behind the plate for all nine innings. Offensive leaders were Carson Peschel who had two walks, a run scored and two stolen bases, Barrett who walked and scored a run, Kyle Peschel finished with two singles, an RBI and two stolen bases, Weston Pavlik who had an RBI and two walks, Rerich who was hit by a pitch and scored a run and then lastly was Brown who was hit by a pitch, hit a single and was walked. Shoutout to coaches Mike Koeth and Wayne Peschel. Sponsors of the week were Sally Seydler, Don’s Repair Shop, Seybro Door and Weatherstrip Company, Kainer’s Pest Control and The Pharmacy Shop of Weimar. Thanks doe the super fan support. See y’all next Sunday, June 1, in Flatonia at 3 p.m.
