Congratulations to the Columbus Christian Women’s Organization (CCWO) 2025 Scholarship Recipient – Abigail Fisher! Columbus High School Class of 2025, and Tarleton State University Class of 2029.
Take a moment and ponder high school graduation and pull out that big yearbook. Read the sweet notes and the canned phrases from each classmate for example, “stay sweet” or “keep in touch” or “we made it! - #YOLO (you only live once)!” Say a quick prayer of thanksgiving for those peers and their happiness.
Rarely do fellow students remember Abigail Fishers from their graduation class. The ones who have shy, sweet, giving, and faithful personalities. The ones who are good on the inside as well as the outside stick up for others. The ones who drive white Mazda’s and play the center position for the volleyball team. The ones who love sweets, cereal bars, the color purple, FFA, animals, and Jesus. The ones who want to be agriculture teachers and improve the world.
On the contrary, the teachers will always remember Abigail Fisher and so will we! The one who accepted instruction; worked hard; learned algebra; loved her horse— Money; dogs—Jax and Tucker; and cat, Sax. The one who feels excited, overwhelmed, and slightly scared about living with a new roommate. The one who will miss her parents, friends, Blake’s, Pilsner’s, the small historical town of Columbus, and the dark skies at night. The one whose smile lights up the sky.
If Abigail’s mom, Sarah, had not told us, we would never know that sweet and wonderful Abigail was suspended from kindergarten for ½ day. Our bet is that she took the blame and served the punishment for someone else. In closing, we reminded Abigail to look for miracles always around us. Just then, as if on que and to prove God was listening, in walked four of Abigail’s favorite teachers from Columbus High School. Each one came over to our table and hugged Abigail saying, “We hate to bother you but we just couldn’t walk in and not give Abigail one more hug! We love her and we will never forget her sweetness and her sweet tooth! We are all so happy that Abigail Fisher became the recipient of our 2025 CCWO scholarship. We can’t wait to see how she will thrive. She is our hope for the future!”
CCWO believes in unity. Any Christian church member is welcome to join us on the 1st Thursday of each month (except August) at Glidden Baptist Church at 11:30 a.m.
We pray and support each other. We have fun while raising money to give away. Last year CCWO gifted over $50K to local non-profits.
