A View Of Columbus Through Rose-Colored Glasses
This article is dedicated to acknowledge examples of positives that express the community spirit of Columbus – our town.
Some days, I feel like the squirrel that hangs upside down on the bird feeder outside my window. He looks as graceful as the trapeze artist flying through the air. I’m sure you recall that I am a stroke victim and that my left side is paralyzed – so hanging like that squirrel would be impossible. Instead of wasting time looking out my window, I find it exciting to look forward to events like “90 on 90”... the antique roadshow coming through our town.
The extreme hot weather can get the best of all of us unless we can read a new book or watch an exiting movie. Sometimes, with the weather like this, I can imagine my brain entertaining another stroke. However, if we have the opportunity to witness a ring ceremony for our champions, or sing God Bless America on Memorial Day, we can smile again, we can put our life into four wheel drive and move forward. May I remind you to observe Flag Day on June 14 and Father’s Day on June 15 and to look forward to the biggie next month... the Fourth of July. As I visited with authorities in our town, I was told that everyone goes to Round Top or Eagle Lake; however, you are reminded that there will be fireworks in Columbus. Thanks, as always, to HEB and the Columbus Chamber of Commerce, our sponsors. Lets be as talented as our Squirrel and grateful for our blessings. P.S. Thanks to Bob for typing my “stuff” and friend, Ann Butler, for her never ending compliments.
