Columbus Garden Club members attended Commissioners Court and also the City Council meeting on Tuesday, May 27 where proclamations were signed recognizing the Week of June 1-7 as National Garden Week. This is a week-long event sponsored by National Garden Clubs, Inc encouraging community involvement, pride, and outreach through gardening.

Locally, the garden club meets during that week to make flower arrangements that will be delivered to county and city offices, local nursing homes, assisted living facilities, our hospital, the Chamber of Commerce, newspapers, radio station, and members of the community. The club promotes community beautification through maintaining gardens around the community, encouraging homeowners to plant and landscape their yards and encouraging businesses to beautify their business or store fronts with gardens and planters. Each month a Yard of the Month Award and a Community Beautification Award are presented.

The Columbus Garden Club motto is: A More Beautiful Community.
