Sheriff’s Report
THURSDAY, MAR. 13
At approximately 8:00 a.m., deputy Gorman was notified by the Colorado County Jail Captain of prohibited substances being brought into the jail. After further investigation, a warrant was issued on this case, and Javier Torres Jr., age 25, of Flatonia, Tx, was arrested for Prohibited Substance in a Correctional Facility - Felony 3. Case cleared by adult arrest.
At approximately 3:13 p.m., deputy Lopez was dispatched to a possible medical emergency that was occurring at a business in the 4800 block of IH-10 in Alleyton, Tx. After further investigation, the female subject was transported to a hospital for psychiatric treatment but was also found in possession of narcotics. Case is active.
At approximately 11:44 p.m., deputy Smith was traveling eastbound on Hwy 90 near Alleyton when another vehicle made contact with his unit causing a fleet. After further investigation, information was received and a report was taken. Case information only.
FRIDAY, MAR. 14
At approximately 10:14 a.m., deputy Chapa was dispatched to the Sheriff’s Office lobby to meet a complainant in reference to a public nuisance complaint. After further investigation, a public nuisance courtesy warning was issued. A follow-up will be conducted on the property following 30 days.
At approximately 10:13 a.m., deputy Lopez was dispatched to a welfare check at a residence in Columbus, Tx. The reporting party advised that a male subject made an outcry of suicide. The male subject was then evaluated and transported to a psychiatric facility for treatment. Case is cleared.
At approximately 1:54 p.m., deputy Chapa was dispatched to the 1100 block of FM 950, Garwood, in reference to a theft. After further investigation, it was determined that it was damaged property from a mistake by a transport company in the transportation order of a mobile home. Case information only.
At approximately 7:17 p.m., deputy Lopez responded to the 4300 block of Hwy 71 S, Columbus, in reference to an unwanted subject. After further investigation, information was received and a subject was issued a criminal trespass warning. Case is cleared.
SATURDAY, MAR. 15
At approximately 12:55 a.m., deputy Byars while patrolling the area of State Hwy 71 and County Road 16, Altair, initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle for a traffic violation. After further investigation, Juan Corchado Damian, age 45, of Lissie, Tx, was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated - Misdemeanor “B”. Case cleared by adult arrest.
At approximately 9:49 a.m., deputy Chapa was dispatched to the 1100 block of Flower Hill Road in Columbus in reference to property damage. On arrival, he met with the complainant and obtained information to generate a report. Case information only.
SUNDAY, MAR. 16
At approximately 7:45 a.m., deputy Smyers was dispatched to a traffic hazard near the 1000 block of Lake Sheridan Road, Sheridan, Tx. After further investigation, no identifying information was located on the vehicle and the vehicle was removed from the roadway. Case is information only.
At approximately 4:45 p.m., deputy Chapa was dispatched to the 1000 block of Lakewood Lane, Sheridan, in reference to an unwanted subject. After further investigation, information was received and a criminal trespass warning was issued. Case cleared.
At approximately 10:58 p.m., deputy Byars was dispatched to a public service in reference to a theft that occurred in the 1500 block of County Road 2152, Rock Island, Tx. Upon speaking with the complainant, enough information was obtained to generate a report. Case active.
MONDAY, MAR. 17
At approximately 8:38 a.m., deputy Lopez was dispatched to a public service in reference to a welfare concern in the 2100 block of CR 111, Garwood, Tx. After further investigation, Adult Protective Services were contacted and determined the subject was able to function within his own means. Case cleared.
At approximately 12:06 p.m., deputy Lopez was contacted by a concerned family member in reference to their father making suicidal statements. After further investigation, information was received and the subject was transported to a mental facility for treatment. Case is cleared.
TUESDAY, MAR. 18
At approximately 12:29 a.m., deputy Smith was dispatched to IH-10, near Borden, in reference to a motor vehicle accident. After further investigation, information was received and a report was taken. Case is active.
At approximately 9:48 a.m., deputy Leihardt was dispatched to the area of US Hwy 90 just West of CR 213, Weimar, in reference to an aggravated kidnapping in progress. After further investigation, Idara Olubunmi Ukpanah, was arrested for False Report Misdemeanor “A” and booked into the Colorado County Jail. Case cleared by adult arrest.
At approximately 11:21 p.m., deputy Mican was informed of someone stealing an ambulance at the Columbus Community Hospital. After further investigation, a pursuit was initiated and Idara Ukpanage, age 29, of Houston, Tx, was arrested for Theft of Property >$150,000<$300,000 - Felony 2, and Evading Arrest in Motor Vehicle - State Jail Felony. Case cleared by adult arrest.
At approximately 10:03 a.m., deputy Cantu was dispatched to the 5300 block of West 3rd Street, Sheridan, in regards to damage to a public roadway. After further investigation, it was determined not enough credible information was given to pursue charges of a potential suspect. Case inactive.
At approximately 4:02 p.m., deputy Smyers was dispatched to the 7200 block of IH-10, Sealy, in reference to estray livestock. After further investigation, the livestock owner was located and recovered their livestock. Case cleared.
At approximately 7:30 a.m., deputy Smyers was dispatched to the 2900 block of FM 102, Eagle Lake, for a burglary of a building. After further investigation, information was received and a report was taken. Case is active.
At approximately 11:10 a.m., deputy Thomas was dispatched to the 5800 block of Main St, Sheridan, for a public nuisance. After further investigation, information was received and a public nuisance waring was issued; pending 30 day period. Case is active.
At approximately 1:23 p.m., deputy Mican was dispatched to the Sheriff’s Office lobby in reference to fraud that occurred in the 700 block of S McCarty Ave, Eagle Lake, Tx. After further investigation, information was received and a report was taken. Case is information only.
FRIDAY, MAR. 21
At approximately 9:12 a.m., deputy Leihardt advised dispatch that he was enroute to the 1200 block of CR 121 in Garwood in reference to a stolen vehicle from Alabama. After further investigation, the vehicle was recovered for the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office in Alabama. Case closed by recovery of stolen vehicle.
At approximately 8:48 p.m., deputy Frey was dispatched to County Road 106 in reference to a possible theft. After further investigation, information was received and stolen items were recovered on scene, with this case being forwarded to an outside agency. Case information only.
At approximately 10:07 p.m., deputy Smith while patrolling US 90A near Altair he initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle for a traffic violation. After further investigation, Andy Salgado, age 25, of Hockley, Tx, was arrested for Possession of Marijuana <2oz - Misdemeanor “B” and Unlawful Carrying Weapon - Misdemeanor “A”. Case cleared by adult arrest.
SATURDAY, MAR. 22
At approximately 1:10 p.m., deputy Leihardt while patrolling Business 71 near Columbus initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle for a traffic violation. After further investigation, a pursuit ensued and Alberto Jossue Hernandez-Amaya, age 20, of Houston, Tx, was arrested for Evading Arrest/Detention with vehicle 3rd Degree Felony, and Resisting Arrest Misdemeanor “A”. Case closed by arrest.
At approximately 8:56 p.m., deputy Smith was dispatched to the 4400 block of US Hwy 90 in Alleyton in reference to a disturbance. After further investigation, Connor Hosay, age 29, of Columbus, Tx, was arrested for Assault Family Member Impede Breath - Felony 3, and Assault of Pregnant Person - Felony 3. Case cleared by adult arrest.
At approximately 11:00 p.m., deputy Johnson was dispatched to the 5500 block of US 90A, near Eagle Lake, in reference to a vehicle fire. After further investigation, information was received and deemed the vehicle was a total loss. Case information only.
