The Weimar Ladycats season is over, and with that comes All-District honors, and the Ladycats saw nine of their players be selected to the All-District team.

Of those nine players selected, two of them were selected for individual awards to add some more excitement to the end of year awards.

Leading things off is Taylor Smith who was selected as the Co-Pitcher of the Year for the 2025 season. Smith dominated inside the circle and pitched most if not all games for the Ladycats this season.

They leaned on her heavily this season and for good reason, when Smith was in the circle, she was getting a minimum of 10 strikeouts and did an excellent job of keeping the opposition off of the bases.

She made life really easy for the defense behind her and because of that the Ladycats made it all the way to the Regional Finals.

Next up was MJ Griffin who was selected as the Utility Player of the Year for 2025 and once again it was for good reason. Griffin was the ultimate Swiss Army Knife for the Ladycats, anything the team needed they looked to Griffin.

If they needed a pinch runner, they needed a big hit or needed a big defensive play the Ladycats could always rely on Griffin to make a play.

The 1st All-District team saw three Ladycats be selected and they were Claire Pavlu, Samantha Rangel and Tate Griffin. Pavlu is as consistent as they came and luckily for the Ladycats she is consistently putting up solid numbers in the batter’s box and in the field.

Rangel was easily one of the biggest hitters in the district being a team leader in doubles, triples and home runs this season as well as RBIs. Tate Griffin always provided a spark to the lineup with her speed and offensive and defensive IQ.

The 2nd All-District team saw Ty’Rianna Rhodes and Zariah Sims and these two showed that the Ladycats are way deeper than what people think. Rhodes was another big hitter for the Ladycats to round out the big three of Smith, Rangel and Rhodes that tormented opposing pitchers this season.

As for Sims, she shared some similarities with Pavlu in the fact that they were just so consistent in every game. Their coach never had to question the type of game Sims was going to have because they knew what to expect from her and they knew she was going to show up to play and she was going to play hard.

Finally, the Honorable Mentions being Alazay Moreno and Faith Cantwell. While it is an Honorable Mention, these girls played their tails off all season long for the Ladycats and showed signs of how much they have improved as softball players.

Regardless of the name, these young ladies earned the right to say they are part of the All-District team.

Congratulations to these athletes for earning such a high honor to end the season.

Zariah Sims was selected to the 2nd All-District team for the 2025 season.
