Born in Cuero on May 6, 1922, as Joan Butts. Joan graduated from Jefferson High school and went to work as a telephone operator for Bell Telephone. During World War II, she was a ship-to-shore operator. Joan left the phone company when she married Rowland in 1947. They had 3 daughters and moved to Tucson Arizona in 1958. 44 years ago, Rowland and Joan moved to Texas.
Rowland and Joan attended the immaculate conception church in Sealy where they participated in many events and functions. Rowland passed in October of 2015 and Joan continued to live in Sealy until she was admitted to TruCare Living Center (TLC) in September of 2021.
Joan still watches the news, keeps up with all the residents, plays Bingo and participates in Physical Therapy. She is enjoying life at TLC with the staff and residents.
