Officer arrest ‘private eye’ in Loessin cases An employee of a private detective agency was charged this week in connection with burglaries earlier this year at Loessin Implement Co. In Weimar.
Calvin J. Myers, 43, manager of the investigation division of Smith Protective Services, Inc. of Houston, was charged here with criminal responsibility for the conduct of another.
Twirlers Named For Next Year Sherry Hagan will serve as head twirler during the 1975-76 school year, Band Director Don Spitzenberger announced this week.
Others in the twirling line will be Karen Ritchie, senior; Diane Brooks, senior; Leske Bubak, senior; Sandy Baumgart, junior, and Lisa Litzmann, junior.

Oil and Gas valuations May Be $18,350,000; Hearings Continue Around $3,500,000 increase in oil and gas tax valuations in this county was indicated as a result of the hearing connected here Monday and Tuesday by county commissioners sitting as a board of equalization.
The county court room was jammed here Monday at 10 a.m. when Judge John Hancher called the meeting to order. Over a dozen oil company representatives and several royalty holders were present to discuss their taxes.
Stop Light to be Placed at Highway Intersection Here A stop light will be installed at the intersections of Highways 90 and 71 here as soon as possible, according to a letter from District Highway Engineer M.G. Cornelius of Yoakum to Mayor E.E. Irwin.
A traffic count was recently taken at the intersection by the State Highway Department on request of City Comm. Reginald (Rip) Taylor after a 3-way crash claimed the life of Mrs. Walter Anglin May 11.

Citizens warned not to irrigate after 8 The Commissioners’ Court at the regular meeting last Monday took cognizance of the shortage of water in the tank due to patrons allowing their hydrants to remain open for irrigation and lawn sprinkling purposes late into the night, and an order was passed that all patrons must stop sprinkling and irrigated at or before eight o’clock p.m. each day.
Car damaged in wreck
Mr. Herman Braden met with quite a serious accident last Sunday while driving to LaGrange with his family. As he turned into the LaGrange-Giddings Road his car was struck by another Buick driven by a Moulton man and Mr. Braden’s car was badly damaged.
Luckily none of the occupants were hurt more than a good shaking up and a few scratches.

Daniel Boone’s Dream
At Ash Grove, in Green county, Mo, lives an interested descendant of the famous Kentuckey hunter Daniel Boone – Mrs. Nellie Boone Frazar, one of the early settlers of that part of the county. The Boones went to Green county about fifty years ago and formed a settlement near the present site of Ash Grove. When part of the county was organized into a township it was named Boone, in honor of the sons of the great explorer of the Kentucky wilderness.
Talking Clocks
Quite the newest thing in timepieces is the clock which announces the hour in a somewhat metalllic, but clear and distinct voice. It is, of course, an ingenious combination of the clock and the talking machine, the latter acting by means of a simple connection with the works above.
