Drugs, loaded firearm found in traffic stop

The Colorado County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Columbus man near Rock Island last Wednesday, May 28, after finding drugs and a loaded gun in his vehicle following a routine traffic stop.

Gage Coronado, 22, was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana, unlawfully carrying a weapon, manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance PG2, manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance PG1 and for having a prohibited weapon.

CCSO Deputy Jessie Lopez conducted a routine stop in the area of Hwy 90A near Rock Island for a traffic violation. During the stop, Deputy Lopez developed a probable cause and searched the vehicle.

During the search, over 13 ounces of marijuana, a digital scale, ecstasy (MDMA), THC vapes, other drugs, a loaded firearm as well as a Glock switch were located inside the car.

Coronado was transported to the Colorado County Detention Center where he was released to jail staff without incident.
