COLORADO COUNTY SHERIFF’S REPORT

Sheriff’s Report

SUNDAY, MAR. 23

At approximately 12:48 p.m., deputy Cantu was dispatched to the Sheriff’s Office in regards to the issuance of a criminal trespass warning for a business located at the 4300 block of US 90, Columbus, Tx. After further investigation, information was received and a subject was issued a trespass warning. Case is cleared.

At approximately 7:12 p.m., deputy Smith was dispatched to Carter Walker Road in Eagle Lake in reference to property damage. After further investigation a report was taken and determined the victim never reached out to pursue charges. Case is cleared.

MONDAY, MAR. 24

At approximately 10:20 a.m., deputy Lopez conducted a welfare check on a subject in reference to an APS case that is active. During the welfare check up, the subject reported that an unknown suspect vandalized his vehicle by breaking the back window. An information report was taken. No suspects identified at this time.

At approximately 1:52 p.m., deputy Lopez was dispatched to the 1000 block of Mockingbird Lane, Eagle Lake, in reference to a Burglary. After further investigation, it was determined the property owner and tenant were going through an eviction process. Case information only.

At approximately 12:38 a.m., deputy Chapa was dispatched to the 6700 block of US Hwy 90, Sealy, in reference to a vehicle fire. On arrival, he met with the vehicle’s driver and gathered information to generate a report. Case cleared information only.

Tuesday, Mar. 25 At approximately 6:58 a.m., deputy Thomas was dispatched to IH-10 EB near FM 949, Bernardo, for a vehicle fire. The fire was extinguished upon deputies arrival, with Bernardo Volunteer Fire Department assisting and the cause being accidental. Case is cleared.

At approximately 8:55 p.m., deputy Thomas observed an abandoned vehicle located on Hwy 90, East of Schultz Road, Alleyton, Tx. A report was generated, with the vehicle being towed front he roadway and entered into TCIC/NCIC as stored and abandoned. Case cleared.

WEDNESDAY, MAR. 26 At approximately 9:24 a.m., deputy Cantu was dispatched to the 1200 block of Brushy Road, Columbus, regarding an accidental shooting. After further investigation, it was determined to be a non life threatening accidental shooting from a hunting incident. Case cleared.

At approximately 10:24 a.m., deputy Leihardt was dispatched to the Colorado County Sheriff Office lobby in reference to harassment in the 1100 block of Wray Ranch Road, Columbus, Tx. After further investigation, information was received and a report was taken. Case information only.

At approximately 8:32 p.m., deputy Schoppe was dispatched to Galvan Road, Alleyton, in reference to a family disturbance. After further investigation, information was received and determined none of the parties wished to pursue charges and were separated on scene. Case information only.

FRIDAY, MAR. 28

At approximately 11:58 a.m., deputy Lopez conducted a follow up investigation at FM 950 and the Colorado County River in reference to abandoned property. After further investigation, information was received and a report was taken. Case information only.

SATURDAY, MAR. 29

At approximately 3:37 a.m., deputy Chapa while patrolling Hwy 71 W near Columbus initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle for a traffic violation. After further investigation, Erick Paredes Hernandez, age 19, of Cottonwood Shores, Tx, was arrested for a warrant out of Hayes County, Tx. Case cleared by adult arrest.

At approximately 12:27 p.m., deputy Lopez was dispatched to 1423 CR 101, Columbus, in reference to a burglary. He conducted an investigation and obtained information to generate a report. The case is active.

At approximately 9:03 p.m., deputy Melendez responded to the 1600 block of Fannin St in Columbus to assist the Columbus Police Department in reference to an active disturbance. After further investigation, information was received with an arrest being made by Columbus PD. Case information only.

At approximately 8:09 p.m., deputy Navarro was dispatched to CR 16 and Skull Creek, Altair, in reference to a disturbance call. After further investigation, Stacy Simpson, age 53, of Miami Gardens, Florida, was arrested for Public Intoxication- Class “C” Misdemeanor. Case cleared by adult arrest.

SUNDAY, MAR. 30

At approximately 10:19 a.m., deputy Thomas was dispatched to the 1000 block of Old McDonald Lane, Columbus, for an unwanted subject. After further investigation, information was received and a criminal trespass warning was issued to a subject. Case is cleared.

MONDAY, MAR. 31

At approximately 9:08 a.m., deputy Schoppe was dispatched in reference to violation of a protective order in the 1300 block of Old Altair Road, Eagle Lake, Tx. After further investigation, information was received and a report was taken. Case is active.

At approximately 9:11 a.m., deputy Lopez and other deputies responded to a male subject criminally trespassing a residence. After further investigation the male subject was experiencing a mental health crisis. The male subject was transported to a psychiatric facility for treatment.

At approximately 12:40 p.m., deputy Leihardt checked out an abandoned vehicle in the 1500 block of SH 71, Columbus, Tx. After further investigation, the abandoned vehicle was removed from the roadway by Colorado County Towing and entered as a stored/abandoned vehicle into TCIC/ NCIC. Case closed.
