Blinn College offers Cybersecurity Camp

The Blinn College Innovation Center in Brenham, Texas hosts an exciting and immersive cybersecurity summer camp from July 7 through July 11. The camp, held from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily, is designed to introduce young minds to the ever-evolving field of cybersecurity.

Taught by esteemed instructors from Texas A&M University, participants will engage in hands-on activities and real-world simulations to learn about network security, ethical hacking, and the latest cybersecurity techniques and practices. This opportunity is not only educational but also entirely free, thanks to generous funding from the Department of Defense (DOD).

Throughout the week, students will thrive in a stimulating and supporting learning environment where they can explore their interests in cybersecurity and develop critical problem-solving skills. The camp schedule includes comprehensive sessions covering fundamental concepts, interactive workshops, and collaborative projects encouraging teamwork and innovation. Each day, students will be provided lunch at the Blinn College Student Center, ensuring they have the energy and focus needed to tackle the day’s challenges and showcase their accomplishments.

The camp culminates on July 11 with a special event. Parents are invited to join their children for lunch and a presentation showcasing the students’ accomplishments. This final day provides a unique opportunity for students to demonstrate what they have learned and for parents to witness their growth and enthusiasm for cybersecurity. The Blinn College Innovation Center’s state-of-the-art facilities and supportive community provide the perfect setting for this transformative educational experience. Participants will keep the electronics, including the computer and monitor, at the completion of camp.

The Alliance for College and Career Student Success (ACCSS) would like to provide this unique opportunity to high school students from partner campuses by providing transportation where necessary.
