Farm picture not too bright The short-term outlook for agriculture in Colorado County is anything but brights, County Agent Johnnie Cooper said this week.
As things look now, the county’s agricultural income in 1975 will fall short of the $50 million mark the county achieved in 1974, thereby marking an end to a steady increase in agricultural income that prevailed in recent years.

Congressman J.J. Mansfield will suggest that the Colorado River be made navigable as far as this city for barges handling freight at a monster mass meeting to be held at Bay City Friday at which various phases of river and harbor work will be discussed by some of the most prominent citizens of that section.
The occasion is a conference attended by Federal Engineer Julie L. Schley having for its object a better understanding of the work that has been authorized and what could be done should further appropriations be made

The wedding of Miss Dorothy Eleanor West and Arthur Herbert Copeland was solemnized Tuesday evening at four thirty in St. John’s Episcopal church with the Reverend Thomas Windham reading the ceremony. The church was beautifully decorated with smilax ferns and quantities of Shasta daisies and made a lovely background for the bridal party.

Celebration For June 19 Planned by Colored Folk The annual June 19 celebration, commemorating the 85th anniversary of the emancipation of slavery, is being planned by Columbus colored residents for Monday and will open with a parade at 11:30 a.m.
Rev. S.M. Harvey is in charge of this year’s event and W.W. Whitkins is secretary.
Gospel Meeting At Church of Christ Begins Monday Night Monday night at 8 o’clock, the gospel meeting will begin at the Columbus Church of Christ, Minister W.H. Nichols reminds, inviting the public to attend.
Preaching will be done by W.L. Wharton, pastor of the Norhill Church of Christ of Houston, who comes highly recommended, Mr. Nichols says.
