The Arc of Katy welcomes August as new executive director

The Arc of Katy, a Katy-based nonprofit organization that provides opportunities for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) to be included as respected and active members of the community, is pleased to announce the appointment of Sandy August as its new Executive Director, effective July 14, 2025. A respected leader in the nonprofit sector, Mrs. August brings nearly two decades of experience driving growth, cultivating meaningful partnerships, and advancing missions that serve others.

Most recently, Mrs. August served as Director of Major Gifts at St. Francis Episcopal School in Houston, where she led high-impact philanthropic initiatives and strengthened donor engagement. Her career spans 18 years of leadership in fundraising, strategy, and community- building.

“Sandy emerged as the clear choice amongst a highly qualified pool to lead The Arc of Katy into its next chapter,” said Cherie Duddridge, President of the Board of Directors. “Her strategic mindset, relational leadership style, and unwavering dedication to building communities where everyone can participate fully and live with purpose make her uniquely qualified to guide our mission forward.”

As Executive Director, August will oversee operations, fundraising, strategic planning, and community engagement efforts. She will work collaboratively with staff, board members, and community stakeholders to expand programs and deepen The Arc of Katy’s impact on individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).

“It’s a true honor to join The Arc of Katy at such a pivotal time,” said Mrs. August. “I’m excited to build on the organization’s strong foundation and work alongside the dedicated team to strengthen and expand the Arc of Katy’s already significant impact on the IDD community.”

The Arc of Katy, a nonprofit organization serving Katy and the surrounding communities, provides opportunities for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities that enable each person to be included as a respected and active member of the community. The Arc of Katy delivers high quality, safe and affordable programs for social enrichment, recreation, lifelong learning, skills development, and community service. The Arc of Katy has an Adult day program Monday through Friday, September through May, Summer Day Program for teens and adults Monday through Friday, June through August, Virtual enrichment program, Be Strong Fitness Program, The Arc of Katy Cares community service activities, Social Events for teens and adults September through May, and Empowerment Through Knowledge educational presentations and workshops with resources for parents, guardians, and other caregivers of individuals with IDD.
