The Texas Coastal Prairie Initiative (TCPI) is a regional initiative of the Coastal Prairie Conservancy and its partners funded by the Natural Resources Conservation Service to conserve the highly imperiled coastal prairie ecosystem. The primary goal of TCPI is to work with private landowners to permanently protect several contiguous areas of 5,000 to 20,000 acres that may include working cattle ranches, farmland, and natural areas to sustain the coastal prairie ecosystem, preserve wildlife corridors, and retain wide-open spaces. TCPI focuses on large contiguous areas in a 13-county area on the Texas mid-coast (Austin, Brazoria, Calhoun, Chambers, Colorado, Fort Bend, Galveston, Harris, Jackson, Matagorda, Victoria, Waller, and Wharton). To learn more about TCPI, visit prairiepartner.org.
The Texas Grasslands and Savannas Initiative (TGSI) is a regional initiative of the Coastal Prairie Conservancy and its partners funded by the Natural Resources Conservation Service to conserve grasslands and savannas in southeast Texas. TGSI focuses on large contiguous areas in a 16-county area on the Texas mid-coast (DeWitt, Gonzalez, Lavaca, Jackson, Matagorda, Wharton, Colorado, Fayette, Washington, Austin, Fort Bend, Brazoria, Waller, Harris, Montgomery, and Grimes).
