’75 Rice Crop seen at $9-10 A bumper rice crop is in the making in the United Sates, and that along with a good rice crop in Asia is expected to put the pressure on rice prices in the coming months.

“Rice from the 1975 Texas crop should run at the $9 and $10 per hundred weight level,” Dr. Art Gerlow told some 400 farmers and agribusinesses at the Western Rice Belt Field Day and Tour Thursday at Bay City.

Rock Island Man Severely Burned at Gravel Pit John Greak of Rock Island was severely burned wh en the drag line he was cleaning at the Horizon and Horten gravel pit about 135 miles southwest of town caught fire about 9 p.m. last night.

Mr. Greak was taken to a Columbus hospital by a fellow worker and is reported to have first and second degree burns over 2/3 of his body.

Game breaks up in the ninth at Yoakum For the first time this year Manager Tolbirt called his team off the field after bad decisions had been made against Columbus in the eighth and ninth innings of the game at Yoakum Sunday. The fans were evenly divided in their criticism of the decisions rendered, many of them demanding that the last ruling be reversed but to no avail.
