Three Ladycats receive end of season awards

A few months back the Weimar Athletic department held their annual awards ceremony for their athletes.

At this ceremony three awards were given out across all sports and those were the MVP award, the Fighting Heart Award and the Most Improved award.

Weimar was able to hand out all their awards to all the athletes across all sports at the ceremony except for one. The softball team was in the midst of a very deep playoff run and was unfortunately unable to attend the ceremony.

Now that the playoffs have wrapped up though there were three Ladycats that still needed to collect one final trophy for the 2025 season. Starting things off was the recipient of the MVP award for the softball team, Taylor Smith.

Smith was a major part of this team’s success this season as she pulled double duty for the Ladycats. She was the team’s starting pitcher and rarely came out of the circle. On top of that, she was also one of the biggest hitters on the team and in the district.

Smith’s presence will be missed next season, and she is leaving behind some big shoes to fill.

Next up was the Fighting Heart award recipient, Alazay Moreno, she was a great example of the saying, “It’s not the size of the dog in the fight it is the size of the fight in the dog.” This young lady never ever gave up under any circumstances and always found a way to get past any adversity placed in front of her.

Next was the Most Improved award that went to Ty’Rianna Rhodes. She made great strides this season as a softball player. She improved in the field in the batter’s box and even as a base runner.

She increased her offensive and defensive production and showcased how much her softball IQ has developed and improved this season to earn this award.

With the end of season awards now handed out the Weimar Ladycats season officially draws to a close as they look ahead to the 2026 season.
