he Fourth of July, also known as Independence Day, is celebrated to commemorate the adoption of the Declaration of Independence by the Second Continental Congress on July 4, 1776. This historic document declared the thirteen American colonies’ freedom from British rule, effectively marking the birth of the United States of America.
