The Weimar Major All-Star baseball team played four games in a recent tournament and posted a 2-2 record.

They took on the likes of Hempstead, Columbus, Rice and Twin Cities at this tournament so let’s take a look at what happened.

Vs. Hempstead, W, 7-6

In game one Weimar picked up a big win as they defeated Hempstead by a score of 7-6. The game started with Weimar Jumping out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning.

Hempstead came storming back in the third inning and scored five runs to take the lead back from Weimar. In the bottom of the fourth inning Weimar scored two runs to take the lead back and then both teams scored one run in the sixth inning for a final score of 7-6.

Weimar got started on the right foot with a big win over Hempstead to start the tournament and wanted to continue their winning ways in game two.

Vs. Columbus, L, 9-2

In game two Weimar ran into Columbus who ended up playing and defeating Bellville in the championship game. So, to lose to the eventual champs is something that Weimar can hang their hat on when it comes to their first loss of the tournament.

In this game Weimar jumped out to a 2-0 lead and then Columbus came storming back scoring nine runs over the five innings to win the game.

Despite the loss Weimar was still a very confident ball club and came into game three looking to get back in the win column.

Vs. Rice, W, 5-1

In their third game of the tournament, Weimar picked up their second win of the tournament. Weimar scored their first five runs in the first and second inning and then gave up their lone run to Rice in the bottom of the fifth.

With a 2-1 record Weimar looked to pick up one more win to keep their season alive and continue to enjoy their summer break on the baseball field.

Vs. Twin Cities, L, 3-0

In their final game of the tournament, Weimar took on Twin Cities in a must win game to keep their season going. Twin Cities took an early 3-0 lead in the first inning, and Weimar could not find a way back into the game.

These kids showed that Weimar has plenty of talent when it comes to baseball, and now they will have a chip on their shoulder returning next season to try to win the District Championship.
