As the summer months dwindle down, it is time to look ahead to volleyball season and look at the Weimar Ladycats.

Last season, the Ladycats posted a 22-14 overall record while putting up a 4-2 record through district play.

They made the playoffs but got eliminated by Burton in the Area Round, ending their season a little bit earlier than they would have liked. This season it’s going to be a bit tougher to get back to that spot, but the Ladycats are a tough team and will find a way to stack wins when it matters.

The Ladycats, much like every team, will be losing some very talented seniors because of graduation. Chandley Tolbert, Clarie Pavlu, Ericka Billeck and Lauren Hinze are the seniors that are parting ways with Weimar High School as they go onto college.

Fans of the team know that is a ton of production lost to graduation but worry not Ladycat fans as there are plenty of returning underclassmen to help fill the void.

Janiyah Cooper, Skylar Rhodes, Madison Luckey, Da’Dreanna Granger, Bevin Brenner and Jaiya Cook are all expected to return in 2025 for the Ladycats. These ladies are not coming in green either in 2025.

In other words, they did not just sit on the sidelines while the 2024 senior class did all the work. These ladies contributed to this team on both offense and defense, and they know what is expected of them.

They also want to experience the same level if not more success than last season because going out in the Area Round is not something they want to experience again. These ladies are going to come out the gate swinging in 2025 because they want to prove that they can play in those later rounds of the playoffs.

The Ladycats are scheduled to begin their season on Tuesday, August 12, when they take on La Grange.

Jaiya Cook is among the players expected to return to the Ladycats this season.
