Weimar VFW Auxiliary seeking quilt materials

The Weimar VFW Auxiliary to Post 5875 met for its regular meeting on July 8, with 13 members present. The meeting was opened according to the Ritual by President Charlene Muras.

There are currently 13 annual members and 24 life members for a total of 37 members.

Dolores Lauck sent $934.22 worth of coupons for veterans overseas. Volunteers are needed for food distribution by the food pantry at the VFW Hall on July 24 and Aug. 28.

Members are asked to save shampoo/conditioner, lotions, pens, pads, etc from summer vacations and look for sales during the year on these items for collection for the Veterans Clinic. Members are asked to collect scrap fabric, batting, and extra material for a quilt to be made honoring veterans.

New officers and chairs take over now, and outgoing officers and chairs are asked to share information with them. Department President Irma Solis’s mottos for 2025-26 are “Because they served-we serve” and “From sea to shining sea-honoring veterans who keep us free.”

For the Good of the Order, Jeanette Koenig listed the following: July 27 Korean Armistice Day, Aug. 4 US Coast Guard birthday and August 7 Purple Heart Day.

The next meeting will be on Aug. 12 at 6 p.m. at Weimar VFW Hall Kitchen.
