The Rice Consolidated High School cheer squad traveled to College Station, TX to compete in a cheer camp.

They came home with a lot of medals but also came home with three All-Americans to start the season on a high note.

The three All-Americans were Faith Thompson, Gracyn Center and Lauren Joines. To be named as an All-American is no easy feat as it requires a combination of strong cheerleading and leadership skills as well as a positive attitude.

These ladies put in the work to hone their skills and master them; they also are not scared to speak up and lead if it means they make the team better. Then finally they all have positive attitudes, they are cheerleaders, not boo leaders and they understand that and make sure they bring the energy and the attitude every game.

That was not the only honors the Rice Cheer Squad left College Station with because they also came in 1st place for their spirit routine and 2nd place for their camp routine. Their spirit routine is something that this squad will use throughout the season to fire up the crowd and students at games and pep rallies, so Rice fans are in for a treat it seems like this season.

The camp routine though, is a shorter performance that the team learns, practices and performs at the camp. The fact that they came in 2nd place shows how talented this squad is because they only had a couple of days to learn this routine and they came in 2nd place.

It was a very successful trip to College Station, TX for the cheer squad and will be displaying their school spirit for the Rice Raider faithfully soon enough.
