SCHOBEL NAMED AS REGIONAL COACH OF THE YEAR

SCHOBEL NAMED AS REGIONAL COACH OF THE YEAR
With the start of football season just around the corner, the Texas High School Coaches Association released their Regional Coaches of the Year list for the 2024 season. This is to recognize coaches that put their team in the best position to win throughout the 2024 season and after winning the school’s first ever State Championship Matt Schobel was named the Regional Coach of the Year for Class 3A. The Cards won the State Championship, and it was largely thanks to their discipline. They hardly had a flag thrown on them in 2024 and that’s a testament to the coaching. In addition to winning Coach of the Year, Columbus also had a coach win Assistant Coach of the Year and that was Kenneth Robinson. Robinson worked on the defensive side of the ball, and if you need to see why he was chosen as the Assistant Coach of the Year, just rewatch the State Championship game and see how his defense dominated that game. Congratulations to both coaches as the Cardinals now look forward to having a successful season in 2025.
