Honoring yard, community beatification honors

Honoring yard, community beatification honors
The August Community Beautification Award was awarded to Columbus Community Church. The beautifully simple Carpenter Gothic style church with its board and batten wood-frame construction featuring pointed arch windows, narrow spire atop a tower, clapboard siding, and steep pitched roof is a masterpiece of 19th century rural architecture. Periwinkles brighten the church’s sign with its service hours while double red knockout roses flank the sanctuary entrance welcoming visitors and members weekly.

AUGUST COMMUNITY BEAUTIFICATION

YARD OF THE MONTH

The Columbus Beautifications awards were honored to present the August Yard of the Month to the home of Sherry and Troy Tucker. The home of Sherry and Troy Tucker at 1525 Travis makes every inch of its corner lot count. The fresh white flowers bring a cool feeling to the hot summer and stunning dark house color. A white althea takes center stage supported by a sea of periwinkles, white driftwood roses, silver grass and lily turf (liriope). Framed by an impeccably mown drought-tolerant lawn, this home and its landscaping are worth a drive by to enjoy. Courtesy photos
