The Columbus Junior All-Stars are back home and celebrating their championship victory with the communities that supported them.

Columbus, Weimar and Hallettsville players came together and accomplished something special and they were recognized on Tuesday, August 5.

The Columbus Junior All-Stars rode in a parade route that started at Memorial Field in Columbus and ended at the Columbus High School softball field. The parade route was lined with fans and community members and the girls rode on an antique fire truck from the Columbus Volunteer Fire Department.

While riding on the fire truck the girls threw beads and little bouncy softballs to give back to the people that supported them. Upon arrival fans flooded into the stands at the Columbus softball field and the ceremony began.

Each girl was introduced as a World Champion because that is exactly what they are. For those who do not know their names they are Berkley Anderson, Cambry Barten, Emma Beauchamp, Lila Berger, Paekyn Etzler, Braylin Gonzales, Chloe Grahmann, Trinity Hopkins, Kaylea McCarthy, Andie Melnar, Taitly Mican, Hattie Post, Lucy Schobel, Manager John Henry Post and Coaches Brian Berger and Marcus Melnar.

This group has etched their names in the history books and will be remembered forever. After the girls were recognized Manager John Henry Post grabbed the microphone to say a few words about his team.

He talked about how this team really came together to accomplish a goal of being world champs. They played for one another every step of the way and never complained about anything.

He also said that ESPN talked a lot about the changes the Columbus Juniors made during games defensively and offensively. Post said he did that because he was putting his team in the best position to win the game and these girls were talented enough that he could put any of them anywhere in the field or the line up and they would succeed.

As the ceremony came to and end “We are the Champions” by Queen rang through the field as the Columbus Junior All-Stars were recognized for winning the Little League World Series.
