School has started at St. Anthony’s and on Aug. 12 students hit the ground running with activities. SAS cheerleaders welcomed students at drop off on the first day back and then hosted a Back-to-School pep rally on 8/15.
Fall sport practices have begun, and Saint athletes are working hard to get ready for cross-country, volleyball, and football competitions. The cross-country team competed at Yoakum on Aug. 16 and will travel to El Campo today for another meet.
SAS volleyball A team played against St. Joseph on Aug. 18 and both A and B teams will head to Port Lavaca to play Our Lady of the Gulf on Aug. 21. The A, B, and C teams will match up against Our Lady of Victory at home on Aug. 25 beginning at 5 p.m.
On 8/19, SAS 8th graders journeyed to the retreat center in Victoria for a two-day retreat to build community and grow in the Catholic faith. Serving others is important to SAS and prior to school starting, several 8th graders spent time spiffing up the campus earning service hours. They did a great job spreading playground mulch, and cleaning windows and floors among other tasks. Students followed the example of the SAS Advisory council, who also put in a campus workday this summer. SAS appreciates everyone who helps make our school a better place!
On Aug. , the student body attended Holy Day mass for The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Regular Friday morning children’s masses are open to the community each week at 8:15am. Come worship with SAS!
“If they obey and serve him, they spend their days in prosperity, their years in happiness.” [JOB 36:11]
