COLORADO COUNTY SHERIFF’S REPORT

MAY 22

On May 22, 2025, deputy Nissan met with a complainant at the Colorado County sheriff’s office in regards to a theft of a firearm. The incident took place in the 1300 block of FM 2334, Weimar, Texas. A report was taken. An investigation revealed the firearm was seized by the Harris County sheriff’s office in 2023. The matter is determined to be civil.

At approximately 11:35 a.m. deputy Leihardt, while finishing up from a traffic stop, received a hit on his license plate reader for a stolen license plate out of Texas. After further investigation, Kevin Wayne Cunningham, age 42, of Houston, Texas, was arrested for unauthorized use of a vehicle and was booked into the Colorado County Jail without incident.

At approximately 5:00 p.m. deputy Smith was dispatched to a grass fire in the 1600 block of Stokes Road in Fayetteville, Texas. Upon further investigation, he arrived on the scene to find a 2020 green John Deere hay baler on fire. He took a report, which is information only.

MAY 23

At approximately 4: 09 a.m. deputy Thomas was dispatched to the 1000 block of US 90, Weimar, Texas, for a medical emergency. A report was generated for information purposes only.

At approximately 10:12 a.m. deputy Lopez was dispatched to the Texana clinic in reference to a mental health transport. The patient was transported to the designated psychiatric facility for treatment.

MAY 24

At approximately 226 p.m. deputy Lopez was dispatched to 605 Canal Street, Garwood, Texas for a warrant.

At approximately 3:47 p.m. deputy Blair is dispatched to the 1600 block of County Road 101 in reference to a motor vehicle accident. A Texas DPS trooper arrived on location and completed and investigation. Case cleared, information only.

MAY 25

At approximately 5:59 a.m. deputy Lopez was dispatched to interstate 10 near the 704 mile marker exit in reference to a kidnapping. An investigation revealed that no kidnapping occurred and the reporting person, Ricky Renee Allmon, age 31, of San Antonio, Texas, was arrested for public intoxication and possession of drug paraphernalia. The case was cleared by arrest.

At approximately 9:31 a.m. deputy Lopez was dispatched to the 1100 block of Old highway 90, Columbus, Texas, in reference to a Union Pacific train striking loose livestock.

At approximately 10:53 a.m. deputy Lopez was dispatched to 10:24 widow loop, Columbus, Texas, in reference to a burglary.

At approximately 9: 07 p.m. deputy Choppa was dispatched to the 500 block of Main street, Sheridan, Texas, in reference to a possible assault. Upon his arrival, he gathered enough information to make a report. Case cleared.

MAY 26

At approximately 222 a.m. deputy chapa was dispatched to the 7000 block of highway 71 South Garwood, Texas in reference to a burglary. After further investigation, information was received in a report taken. Cases active. Texas Ranger Tomas Cardenas will be lead on this investigation and will present all charges to the Wharton County DA’s office Approximately 6:31 p.m. deputy Blaha observed a vehicle going approximately 6 mph in the main lanes of Interstate 10 westbound. After further investigation, a report was taken and the subject and was evaluated for mental health.

MAY 27

At approximately 10:30 a.m. Weido spoke with a complainant in reference to a legal dumping occurring on property located on County Road 103 in Columbus, Texas. Information was taken to conduct an investigation. The case is active.

MAY 28

At approximately 4:24 p.m. deputy Lopez conducted a traffic stop at US 90 alternate and 11th Street and Rock Island, Texas, for defective equipment. After further investigation, Gaige Gilbert Coronado, age 22, of Columbus, Tx, was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana <=5lbs>4oz - State Jail Felony, unlawfully carrying weapon - Misdemeanor A, possession of a controlled substance penalty group 2>=400G - Felony 2, prohibited weapon - Felony 3, manufacture and delivery controlled substance penalty group 1<1G - State Jail Felony, and Possession of dangerous drug - Misdemeanor A.

At approximately 7:05 p.m. deputy Byars was dispatched to the Colorado County sheriff’s office lobby in reference to missing sheep. Upon speaking to the complaint, enough information was obtained to generate a report. Case cleared information only.

At approximately 9:46 p.m. deputy Melendez conducted a traffic stop in the 300 block of Camp Street in Alleyton, Texas while conducting an investigation and driver, Juan Felipe Ramirez Vega, 40 years old of Alleyton, intentionally resisted and obstructed him from performing a search and arrest. He was taken into custody for resist arrest/search/ transport and taken into the Colorado County jail.

At approximately 11:56 p.m. deputy Chapa was dispatched to the 1000 block of Sandhill Road, Weimar, Texas, in reference to a disturbance. After further investigation, Carlos Alexis Garcia hernandez, age 27, of Weimar, Texas, was arrested for assault causing bodily injury to a family member - class A misdemeanor. Case cleared by adult arrest.

At approximately 10:24 p.m. deputy Navarro was dispatched to FM 3013 and McDonald Road, Eagle lake, Texas, in reference to a motor vehicle accident involving livestock. After further investigation, a crash investigation was conducted. Cases cleared.

MAY 30

At approximately 3:09 a.m. deputy Byars was dispatched to Interstate Highway 10 westbound near the 695 exit in reference to an excavator that fell off a bridge. Upon making contact with the complainant, enough information was gathered on scene to generate a report. Case cleared.

At approximately 7:00 p.m. deputy Smith was dispatched by public service. Upon speaking with RP, he later met with him at his address, located in the 1000 block of Indian Trail Road in Altair, Texas.

At approximately 9: 06 p.m. deputy Frey was dispatched to the 2300 block of FM 109, Columbus Texas, in reference to a disturbance. Upon further investigation, Michele Gallaher, age 56, of Columbus Texas, was arrested on assault causing bodily injury family member, class A misdemeanor. Case cleared by adult arrest.
