The Rice Lady Raiders picked up their first win of the season after they defeated Sacred Heart.
They beat Scared Heart in tournament play where they played three sets and won the match 2-1.
First Set: 25-16, W
In the first set of the match the Lady Raiders came out swinging and swinging hard. They took the game right too Sacred Heart and jumped out to an early lead that they never relinquished.
They ended up winning the set but nine points which is a dominate way to win the first set of the season and they did not stop there. Unfortunately, the Lady Raiders fell short in set two, but they made it a very competitive game.
Second Set: 26-24, L
In the second set the Lady Raiders once again came out strong but Sacred Heart was ready for the challenge. The Lady Raiders would start to get a lead, but Sacred Heart would come right back and even things up.
This theme stayed throughout the game and Sacred Heart ended up taking the lead late in the set and ended up winning by only two points. It set up one final showdown in the third set where the Lady Raiders recognized the urgency to pick up the win.
Third Set: 17-15, W
In the third set the Lady Raiders returned the favor to Sacred Heart by winning the final set by only two points. This was one of the best sets the Lady Raiders played as they communicated well with one another.
On top of that they played some very strong defense that did just enough to help lift them to victory.
This was their first win of the season, and they will look to stack up more wins as they work through tournament play.
