The Weimar Wildcats traveled to the Van Vleck Leopards home field for their first scrimmage of the season.

This was the first time fans got to see the Wildcats under the direction of newly appointed head coach, Dylan Conway.

He and the rest of the coaching staff put a ton of emphasis on communication because at any level of sports communication is the key to success. The Wildcats made the playoffs last year and are loaded with enough talent to do it again.

If players are not communicating on the field though it could limit the amount of success they have this season. It sounds crazy but communicating on the field could be the difference between winning and losing the game.

With a new coach also comes some new schemes and plays that the Wildcats worked on during the scrimmage. This helped both the players and coaches because the players were asking questions about certain plays whenever they ran them.

It was a positive sign because it shows the players are ready and willing to learn and they want to make playoffs just as bad as the coaches. It also helped clean up any mental mistakes the team may make during a game, make them now so they avoid them in the real game.

The Wildcats have one more scrimmage scheduled as they will be hosting the Lexington Eagles on Thursday, August 21 in Weimar.

Drew Montgomery was a featured player for the Weimar Wild-CALL, cats in the new College Football game.
