The SAS cross-country team has been braving the awful heat, with most SAS runners competing against older athletes. The following SAS runners placed at the El Campo meet in these categories: 8th grade boys - Matthias Walla (4th place), 7th grade girls – Carley Aaron (2nd place), Kate Crosby (7th place), Anslee Busselman (8th place), Ashlyn Bennett (10th place), 7th grade boys – John Fitzgerald (5th place), Beau Neal (8th place), Samuel Gonzales (9th place), and Jase Foster (10th place).
The cross-country team will run in Schulenburg tomorrow, Aug. 28, and will later participate in the Run for a Cause at the Columbus Golf Course on Labor Day.
The SAS volleyball teams are having success, recently beating both St. Joseph and Our Lady of the Gulf. All three teams will take on Trinity in Victoria on Sept. 2 starting at 5 p.m.
On Friday, Aug. 22, Fr. James Dvorak blessed the school and the individual classrooms at SAS. The school community prayed for divine guidance, protection and wisdom during this special blessing.
