The Weimar Ladycats traveled to Schulenburg to compete in the Schulenburg Tournament this past week.

In their first three the Ladycats matched up against East Bernard, Fayetteville and Flatonia JV on Day one, then on Day two they matched up against Shiner, Sacred Heart and Schulenburg.

Day one

Day one of the tournament started with the Ladycats taking on East Bernard and it was a very competitive game. In the first set the Ladycats and East Bernard traded leads until the Ladycats went on a late run to win the set 25-23.

The second set East Bernard came back and handed the Ladycats a 2523 loss to tie the match at one set a piece. Then in the third and final set the Ladycats dominated from start to finish and won the set 25-13.

In game two the Ladycats swept Fayetteville in two sets, they won the first one 25-21. In the second set the Ladycats dominated yet again on offense and defense to come away with a 25-11 win.

Then finally in game three Flatonia’s junior varsity team replaced the Rice Lady Raiders in the tournament. The Ladycats varsity team obviously had little to no problems in this game and won the first and second set 25-5 and 25-6.

This gave the Ladycats a confidence boost going into Day two where they continued their winning ways.

Day two

In day two the Ladycats took on Shiner first and the Ladycats made quick work of a familiar foe. The Ladycats won the first set 25-15 and came back in the second set to win it 25-16.

In game two the Ladycats found themselves up against Sacred Heart and the Ladycats gave up only 21 points in two sets. This led them to their fifth win in a row at the tournament and set them up to play Schulenburg in their sixth game.

Against Schulenburg the Ladycats dropped the first set by a score of 25-20. The Ladycats bounced back in the second set to win the set 25-19 setting up a very competitive third set.

In the third set the Ladycats defense came up huge as they kept Schulenburg at bay just long enough for the offense to close the game. The Ladycats ended up winning the third set by a score of 25-23 to cap off their six-game winning streak in dramatic fashion.

The Ladycats now look ahead to their next game on Tuesday, August 26, when they take on the Columbus Lady Cardinals, looking for their seventh win in a row.
