In their final scrimmage before the season start the Weimar Wildcats took on the Lexington Eagles.

Much like the Columbus and Sealy scrimmage this scrimmage’s intensity level was high and it was apparent.

Both teams were very physical with one another and made the other earn every yard that they got. They did a great job of playing on the edge without crossing the line and having the game get out of hand.

Both teams are there to try to improve themselves before the season so a massive brawl would not benefit anyone.

The scrimmage was actually delayed for a bit because of the weather as lightning was in the area. Once the game got started though it was back to playing football under the Friday Night Lights.

Both teams got two chances on offense and subsequently two drives on defense and then there was one 12-minute timed period where UIL officials treated it like a live game. That was fun to see because while it is pre-season for the teams and they are looking to improve it’s the same for the refs, so they get a chance to get themselves ready for the season.

That being said, there will still be missed calls or calls that fans disagree with so plan accordingly.

It was a great night of football out in Weimar, and it was made even better knowing that the Wildcats will be kicking off to start their season on Friday, August 29, against Boling on their home field.
