Wildcats are 1-0 to start 2025 season

The Weimar Wildcats were able to enjoy home field advantage, and they welcomed in the Boling Bulldogs for their week one matchup.

The Wildcats ended up winning this game by a score of 41-21 to start the year off with a 1-0 record.

Starting the game, the newly appointed head coach for the Wildcats, Dylan Conway and the Wildcats offense wasted no time opening the scoring. They marched all the way down the field and handed the ball off to Mikael Shifatu for a one-yard rushing touchdown.

Sammy Hernandez kicked the Point After Touchdown to put the Wildcats up 7-0 early in the game. Shortly after Jerron Fisher scored his first touchdown with a 32-yard rushing touchdown, Hernandez kicked the PAT, and the Wildcats were sitting comfortably with a 14-0 lead.

In the second quarter the Wildcats rushing attack continued to dominate the game as Ace Mesa ran in a touchdown from one yard out. Hernandez booted the PAT through the uprights with ease, and the Wildcats now had a 21-0 lead going into halftime.

Coming out of halft ime Conway decided to try his luck in the passing attack and Collin Morrison was up for the challenge. Morrison connected with Shifatu on a 22-yard pass for a touchdown and after the PAT from Hernandez the Wildcats held a 28-0 lead.

Boling then found the endzone for the first time in the game as they ran one in from four yards out. This brought the score to 28-7 and the Wildcats showed no signs of slowing down offensively.

Morrison continued to operate effectively from the pocket and soon found another receiver open for a touchdown. This time it was Ty Rerich who caught the 12-yard pass from Morrison to put the Wildcats up 35-7 after the Hernandez PAT.

Boling scored again before Lucas Moreno ran in the final Wildcat touchdown to bring the score to 41-14. Boling scored one final time towards the end of the fourth quarter to make the final score 41-21.

Morrison had a great night under center for the Wildcats as he finished the game with a perfect 5/5 on passing attempts Friday night, he racked up 62 passing yards and two passing touchdowns to cap off his performance.

As for the rushing game Fisher made his presence felt in week one with 15 carries for 159 yards and a touchdown. Shifatu, Mesa and Moreno combined to rush for 99 yards and three touchdowns.

The Wildcats now set their sights on their week two matchup against Sommervi lle on the road on Friday, Sept 5, where they will look to add to their win total in 2025.
