The beauty of serving

A View Of Columbus Through Rose-Colored Glasses

This article is dedicated to acknowledge examples of positives that express the community spirit of Columbus – our town.

The Light House at St Paul Lutheran Church in Columbus is the location for “Seniors Together” on the first and third Wednesday of the month. The Weimar Civic Center is the location on the second and fourth Wednesday. It takes a crew of people to carry out these programs.

Florence Crews has been the President or Chairman of the Board for Seniors Together. Ms. Crews invites you to participate. She will explain that there is a job for everyone. Whether it’s Mexican Train, dominoes, bingo, or some other game, the folks come together to play, watch, or simply be there. Fifty to one hundred members will be present in Columbus –25 or so in Weimar.... It’s a matter of being together that seems to count.

Recently, the various homes for the elderly have brought participants. Wheelchairs or walkers are no deterrents. So... please know that there is a place for you either as a guest or a worker bee.

After the game session, Seniors Together are treated to a nice lunch. This ministry is under the direction of John Jones and wife Diane’s Three Crosses Ministry which is a 5013C organization.

Seniors Together was founded on the idea of Ann Butler. Others have joined Ann and Florence as volunteers. This is an idea for you … join them. Whether it’s preparing a meal, giving your time, or giving a monetary gift, all of these are needed to fund the effort. No one is turned away. The final part of the day is a lively bingo game. Prizes are exciting, and that’s another volunteer effort.

It’s such a fine way to “share with others”. Please read this article once more today and decide to join Seniors Together in Columbus or Weimar. There is a place for you.
