The Weimar Wildcats picked up their second win of the season after they dominated the Somerville Yeguas in their week two matchup.

Last season the Wildcats defeated the Yeguas early in the season and in 2025 they came back and did it again with a score of 48-0.

Looking at the defense first since they helped keep the shutout alive all game long, they had a very dominant showing Friday night. Sirr Mesa led the team with five and a half tackles Friday night while Ty Chmelik racked up five.

Raul Sierra recorded four tackles while Ty Rerich and Mikael Shifatu each recorded three tackles in Friday’s win. Rerich also had a big night rushing the passer as he recorded not just one but two sacks against the Yeguas.

The Wildcat defense also recovered two fumbles Friday night with Collin Morrison and Chmelik both coming up with one fumble recovery each.

Now flipping over to the offensive side of the ball where the Wildcats scored 34 points before halftime. In 2025 the Wildcats have been scoring the ball seemingly at will and have scored a total of 89 points through only two games this season.

They are not doing anything too crazy either, they are just playing very effective defense and have been running the football efficiently and have been stacked back-to-back wins because of it.

Leading the way Friday night was Mikael Shifatu who carried the ball nine times for 156 yards and three touchdowns. Jerron Fisher also had a great night running the ball as he carried the ball five times for 79 yards and a touchdown.

Raul Sierra and Kamryn Burley were both able to find the endzone for the Wildcats as well and they combined to carry the ball 10 times for 45yards.

Other runners from Friday night include Sammy Hernandez who carried the ball four times for 55 yards and Ace Mesa who carried the ball four times for 49 yards. Then finally Lucas Moreno carried the ball three times for 47 yards.

In the passing game Collin Morrison only threw three passes Friday night and only completed one of them. The kicker is that one completion was also a 33-yard touchdown pass to Jerron Fisher, so it was a solid night over all in the passing attack for the Wildcats.

Now sitting at 2-0 the Wildcats will look to make it 3-0 when they travel to Altair, TX to take on the Rice Consolidated Raiders on Thursday, Sept. 11, at 7:30 p.m. in a Colorado County Showdown.
