The Weimar Ladycats improved to 11-9 for the 2025 season after they swept Sacred Heart last Tuesday on home court.
This win comes after the Ladycats suffered a two-set loss to Burton during tournament play and they bounced right back into form.
The Ladycats opened the match up with an offensive surge to start the first set. They came out in front of their home crowd with a little bit more energy since they were coming off of a loss.
They jumped out to an early lead in the first set and held onto that lead for the entirety of the set. Led on offense by Janiyah Cooper the Ladycats stormed to a 25-14 victory in the first set.
In the second set it was much of the same for the Ladycats as they ended up winning that set with a score of 25-16. In the third set it was more of the Ladycats dominating and they came away with a 25-12 win in the third set to close out the match. The Ladycats are a young team so to see them dominate games like this is a very positive sign of things to come for the Ladycats volleyball team.
Ladycats Head Coach Amanda Machicek put a ton of emphasis on the tournament portion and pre-district portion of the Ladycats schedule because they are so young. She wants to make sure that her team is prepared no matter who they are playing, Especially with the young guns now on the team, she wants to make sure that they are ready for when their district schedule rolls around because they are in a tough district and have high aspirations for the 2025 season.
The Ladycats now look ahead to their next game against the La Grange Leopards on Tuesday, Sep 9, with the opening serve happening at 6 p.m.
