Friendly sports season reminders

Hello, everyone and welcome back to the Huddle where today I am just going to give some friendly reminders for fans this Sports Season.

I know we are all very excited that sports are back so i just wanted to remind everyone of three things as we get started.

Lay off the refs

I understand in the heat of the moment things can get intense in a hurry, but don’t start barking at the refs when a call does not go your way. They’re human and mistakes are going to come and believe me the coaches are very at getting on the refs whenever there is a missed call.

On top of that it does not change anything that happened. The call will stand no matter how much you boo the ref. Never in the history of sports has a call ever been overturned because fans were upset, it just won’t happen.

That’s not to say you can’t boo a bad call, I like many of you am an avid sports fan and when a call goes against my team, I definitely do not like it. However, once it’s done and settled move on keep off the refs.

It’s a hard job and it’s a thankless job that they do, and they are just trying to do it right.

Be civil in the stands

This one is not a super big deal around these parts as cooler heads seem to prevail, but we’re here so might as well talk about it. Fighting in the stands has to be one of the craziest things i have ever seen people do.

Cause not only does it disturb the game, but that fight is not just going to be between two people. Someone will catch a stray left hook to the eye and then the fight goes from two people to 10 people in a matter of .2 seconds.

Then it leads to arrest because according to the law you cannot openly fight at an event like that, so it is best to just avoid it. Because imagine getting thrown in county jail and they ask you what you’re in for and you come out with, “I got in a fight at a High School sporting event.” You’re the laughingstock of county jail immediately.

Again, you guys have always been really good about not letting stuff like that boil over in the stands, but you never know these days.

Have fun

Finally, the most important piece of this puzzle is just have fun. Sports are meant to be fun and at this level having fun is still a very important part of the game.

Look, at the end of the day the players we are watching are still kids ranging from 14-18 years old. Enjoy the game, take plenty of pictures and videos and focus on just making memories.

A lot of people tend to get blinded by their goals that they want to achieve in sports and while their dreams are serious it is ok to take a step back and enjoy what is right in front of you for just a second and appreciate everything that you have been blessed with.

Thank you all so much for reading the Huddle and I look forward to seeing all of you throughout the many sports seasons this year.
