Poll workers are the backbone of our elections. They’re not just volunteers, they’re your friends, family members, and neighbors who step up to serve our community. These dedicated individuals invest countless hours in training and work long days to ensure our democratic process runs smoothly and fairly.
Over the coming weeks, we’ll be highlighting some of our incredible precinct judges and election workers. When you see them, please take a moment to thank them. They’re not doing this for financial gain. They’re doing it to make sure the system works for all of us.

The Colorado County Elections Office is proud to spotlight Roxana Strickland of Rock Island, Presiding Judge of Precinct 102, as the county’s longest- currently serving precinct judge. Since 1998, Roxana has been a dedicated steward of the democratic process, supporting both early voting and Election Day operations with unwavering commitment.
After moving to Colorado County in 1997, Roxana quickly became involved in elections, beginning her service in what she fondly recalls as a “little bitty room” in the courthouse. Over the years, she has witnessed significant changes in local election procedures and has remained a steady presence through them all.
“The one thing I can tell voters is to vote every chance you have,” says Strickland. “However, do your research before you vote. You can go to the county election office and get a sample ballot before doing the research. Be a good, informed county citizen.”
Sample ballots for the upcoming Nov. 4, 2025, election are now available. Voters can access them online at the Colorado County website or pick up a copy at the Colorado County Annex or Election Center.
