Writing my story

VIEWPOINT OF A TEXAS CHALLENGE ACADEMY CADET

Growing up with six siblings, I often felt alone. When my family was doing something, I would go off by myself and write. When we were having pizza or game night, I would just write.

And here I am now At Texas ChalleNGe Academy writing my life story and will share a bit of it with you.

Prior to coming here, I had been homeschooled my whole life, and earlier this year, I decided to move in with my 18-yearold- sister. She is the one who found TCA and was hoping to actually attend after me. She helped me to get everything ready, but then in April of this year, she was in a car accident.

She was in the hospital for a week and while I was in the waiting room, I wrote her a song. She never got to hear it because she passed away.

After she died, my dad stopped playing his guitar After she died, my mom was sadder and cried anytime someone said her name. After she died, I would go to church and cry because she used to go with me. After she died, I started writing more, hoping it would fill the hole in my heart.

I didn’t think I could do TCA after she died, but I am here. For the first three weeks, I separated myself from everyone and just started writing. But now, I am here, for me and my sister.

I want to get my GED and have a good life. I want to travel for a while and when I turn 18, I want to join the Navy like my father, grandfather, and uncle did. I want to pursue a degree in photography and write more stories.
