Commissioners set to consider county budget The commissioners court, unpredictable when it comes to the county budget, will hold a public hearing 10 a.m. Thursday on the budget for 1976.
The major problem, if indeed there is one, will be pay hikes of up to 15 percent for most county- elected officials.
Five burglaries solved; three facing charges Five burglaries have been solved with the arrest of three suspects, Chief Deputy Jim Broussard announced this week.
Robert Henry Ison Jr., 18, of Columbus, was charged with burglary of a coin operated machine in connection with the break-in of a cigarette machine at the Shell Service Center on I-10, Broussard said.

School trucks protected by insurance
The public school board took another step forward this week when they purchased through H.L.B. Skinner, local insurance salesman, two policies for $25,000 each on the trucks bringing the children in from the Buescher and Alleyton communities.
District court convenes
Judge Lester Holt opened District Court here Monday by setting the grand jury to work with good and wholesome instructions. District Attorney Weinert and Reporter Moffett are here and appear to be in good spirits.

Some brave deeds I see a great deal in the papers of Dick Dowling and his 43 Irishmen and while i would be the last man to detract from their glory, I never see anything about another brave deed that occurred at the Pass previous to the Dowling episode.
Odd Fellows Lodge in a cave Probably the most curious meeting place in the world is the lodge room of the Gap Creek Lodge, No. 72, Independent Order of Odd Fellows. The lodge for five years has been meeting in Hyder’s cave, near Gap Run, Tennessee.
