The Weimar Ladycats picked up their third win in a row Tuesday night after they swept the Ganado Indianettes on the road in Ganado.

The Ladycats offense was flying all over the court Tuesday night, but it was their defense that was the real story so let’s look at what happened.

The first set of this match belonged solely to the Ladycats and this is where their defense took firm control of the game. The Ladycats offense dominated this set but their defense held the Indianettes to only three points.

The Ladycats won the first set with a score of 25-3 in an impressive showing but there were still two more sets to be played and there was no sign of slowing down. This was the Ladycats first district game of the year and they wanted to make a statement. in the second set again the offense was unstoppable, and they were beating the Indianettes in multiple different ways. Typically, the Ladycats try to get the ball to Janiyah Cooper and her big swinging right arm.

Copper was still able to earn some points for her team Tuesday night but since a lot of the indianettes attention on defense was focused on Cooper it opened up opportunities for other players to make an impact. One of those players is Ramsey Tolbert who shows flashes of her older sister, Chandley Tolbert, while wearing a Ladycat uniform.

Tolbert slammed down several spikes in Tuesday’s win over the Indianettes and was a big reason why her team cruised to a 25-5 win in the second set.

Then came the third and final set and the Ladycats got their brooms out because it was time to finish the sweep. In the third set it was more of the high-flying and fast paced offense coupled with a strong defensive effort for another win.

The Ladycats won the third set with a score of 25-9 to win this match three sets to none for their first district win. The Ladycats wanted to make a statement with a win over Ganado and the statement they made was, their team held Ganado to only 17 points for their first district win of the season.

The Ladycats will look to stack up some more district wins as they look ahead in their schedule to their next game on Tuesday, Sept. 30, when they take on Flatonia on their home court in Weimar.

Taitlyn Mican takes the court for the Ladycats ready to make a defensive play.
