Parents as Teachers of Rural South-Central Texas welcomes new executive director

Schulenburg — Parents as Teachers of Rural South-Central Texas (PATRSCTX) announced the appointment of Kristi Mc-Bride as its new Executive Director, effective Oct. 1.

McBride, a respected educator and community leader, brings more than a decade of leadership experience in schools, curriculum, and community programs. She served as principal of Schulenburg Elementary School from 2020–2023 and also held roles as Director of Curriculum, Instructional Technologist, and Administrative Specialist with Schulenburg ISD. Most recently, she managed operations at Banks Farm & Ranch, overseeing staff, finances, and program management. In 2022, the Schulenburg Chamber of Commerce honored her as Citizen of the Year for her service and commitment to the community.

She joins Karen Hoskins, Program Director, and Josue Rivas, Development Director, to form a strong leadership team dedicated to advancing the mission of PATRSCTX. Together, they will guide a staff of seven parent educators, two Learn & Playroom teachers, and the Family Resource Center, which provides families with education, developmental resources, and connections to community services from pregnancy through kindergarten entry.

Earlier this year, PATRSCTX became its own 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, separate from the Stanzel Family Foundation. With its own Board of Directors in place, the organization is now positioned to serve families across Fayette and Colorado Counties more effectively than ever before.

“Kristi brings the perfect mix of educational expertise, organizational management, and community commitment,” said Jesus Martinez, Board President. “Her leadership, alongside Karen and Josue, ensures a bright future for PATRSCTX.”

In addition to her professional achievements, McBride is deeply rooted in community service. She has held leadership roles with the Schulenburg Lions Club, Schulenburg Little League, and Schulenburg Junior Hoops. She also serves with Tri-County Aggie Moms and the Schulenburg ISD PTO. Her long-standing involvement in these organizations highlights her dedication to building strong connections and supporting families both inside and outside the classroom.

McBride, who holds a Master of Education in Educational Administration from Texas A&M University and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering Technology from the University of Houston, said she is honored to step into this role at such a pivotal time. “Accepting this position feels like stepping into something deeply meaningful, as our three children were participants in the PAT program,” said McBride. “This is not just a position, it is a partnership with our communities, rooted in trust and mutual growth. I am incredibly excited, and grateful. In a place where everyone knows your name, your role becomes personal, and that makes the work we do even more powerful. I am looking forward to learning as much as I teach and helping build strong foundations for our communities’ youngest learners.”
