COLUMBUS CARDINALS 40, ROGERS EAGLES 7
The Columbus Cardinals welcomed the Rogers Eagles to celebrate their homecoming this past Friday.
The Cards came away with a dominant 40-7 win over the Eagles to improve to a 4-2 record in the 2025 season.
Columbus came out swinging on Friday night as they won the coin toss and took the ball immediately. With that first possession the Cards marched down the field and opened the scoring.
Shortly after they took the ball away from Rogers and found the endzone again in the first quarter. Then once more before the first quarter the Cars found the endzone once more to carry a 21-0 lead into the second quarter.
The Cards offense played so well Friday night that Brody Tribe only had to punt one time, and it went for 50 yards.
The Cards scored two more touchdowns in the second quarter as they extended their lead to 34-0 after a missed PAT. This score stood until halftime and would be the score for the entirety of the third quarter.
In the fourth quarter both teams found the endzone and brought the game to its final score of 40-7.
Jack Schobel was under center for the Cards and he completed two of his five pass attempts for 45 yards and a touchdown. The recipient of that touchdown was Trey Kohleffel for 41 yards.
Schobel also carried the ball six times for 25 yards and a touchdown while Brody Vinklarek and Amari Stovall each carried the ball once for a total of 31 yards and each scored a touchdown.
Bryan Salazar was the leader of the run game for the Cards as he had four carries for 90 yards and a touchdown. Finally, on the defensive side of the ball Brody Tribe blocked a punt that was returned for a touchdown to help the Cards secure the victory.
The Cards now look ahead to their next game when they go on the road to open up their district schedule against Yoakum at 7 p.m.
