SAS SAINTLY NEWS

Today is Homecoming at SAS, and mums, garters and spirit pins made by the Junior High Floral Elective class adorn kids all over campus. The SAS cheer squad will lead a blackout pep rally at 2:45 this afternoon. Later this evening, the Saints’ football team will take on Trinity at 7 p.m. on Cardinal Field in hopes of another win. The Saints were victorious over St. Michael last Wednesday. Next Tuesday, Oct. 14, the football boys will travel to Bellville to battle Faith Academy at 5 p.m.

The Lady Saints volleyball team will welcome St. Philip of El Campo tomorrow for matches beginning at 5pm. This Saturday, Oct. 11, the Cross-Country team will participate in a meet at Faith Academy in Bellville.

To celebrate the Feast Day of St. Francis of Assisi (the Patron Saint of animals), last Friday SAS held a “Blessing of the Pets” for SAS families. Through this blessing, Fr. James Dvorak honored St. Francis’s deep love for all creatures while promoting kindness and respect for them.

This month is a busy one for SAS kids and their families. SAS Ambassadors showed up to help at the St. Roch church picnic last Sunday, and they will be also be helping at the St. Anthony picnic this coming Sunday, 10/12. Tickets for the PTC’s Halloween Carnival’s raffle are available now from any SAS student and in the school office. Handmade posters advertising the carnival will soon be hanging in local businesses for everyone to enjoy the students’ handiwork.

October 5-12 is the Diocese of Victoria’s annual Rosary Congress, a time to offer intense prayers and sacrifices in order to repair the wounds of the world and build the hope of true peace. Catholic Daughters Diane Bartek and Laura Hromadka recently taught the SAS 7th graders how to make rosaries.

Also, Mrs. Tromblee’s 6th grade class and their families will pray a Scriptural Rosary tomorrow at 8:15 a.m. as participants in the Rosary Congress. This coming Friday, SAS will welcome Bishop Cahill as he celebrates the Children’s Mass at 8:15 a.m. and visits campus afterward.

Upcoming events: EARLY RELEASE @1:15 on Oct. 10. St. Anthony Church Picnic on Oct. 12 at Columbus Hall. School holiday on Oct. 13. SAS welcomes all to attend Children’s Mass each Friday at 8:15.
