Poll Workers: The Heart of Our Democracy

Evelyn Orange, a longtime pillar of civic engagement in Colorado County, continues to make a lasting impact through her unwavering commitment to election integrity and community service.

Widely recognized for her volunteerism, Orange has served in numerous roles within Colorado County Elections over the years. Her tenure includes many years as a precinct clerk for Precinct 303 in Mentz, where she became a familiar and trusted face to voters. In addition to her regular duties, Orange has stepped up as presiding judge in various Precinct 3 locations when called upon, demonstrating her flexibility and leadership.

Her dedication extends beyond Election Day. Evelyn has consistently supported early voting efforts across multiple locations and has even taken on dual responsibilities by serving on election boards, including the partial manual (hand count) team.

“Working the elections is my way of contributing to my community to help provide a place for people to vote,” Orange said.

As Colorado County prepares for the upcoming constitutional amendment election on Nov. 4, voters will notice changes in precinct locations. The precincts are being consolidated. While Orange will not be stationed in Mentz, she will continue her service at the Election Center, assisting with both early voting and Election Day operations.

Colorado County Elections expresses deep appreciation for Evelyn’s years of service and encourages voters to stop by the Election Center to say hello and thank her for her continued dedication.
