The Weimar Ladycat picked up their fourth win in district play this season after defeating the Schulenburg Lady Horns.
In this rivalry game, the Ladycats lost the first set then locked back in for the final three sets to pick up the win.
In the first set for the Lady Horns and Ladycats, it was as tightly contested as it could have been, which would be the theme for this match. Neither team wanted to give an inch to the other, and it resulted in some really good, high level volleyball play.
Unfortunately for the Ladycats they were on the losing end of the first set by a score of 25-22. This lit a fire in the Ladycats as they came back with a vengeance in the second set to even the game up at one set a piece.
The second set was just as if not more competitive than the first set as neither team gave up anything for free. This time though it was the Ladycats who were able to pull away late in this set to come away with a 25-23 win.
Going into the third set, both teams brought their A-game as they knew how pivotal a win in the third set would be. It was playoff like volleyball in the third set as once again the score was extremely close.
Each point that was scored also drew a loud reaction from the crowd as the fans of both teams knew how important a win in this rivalry game would be. The Ladycats were fortunate enough to find themselves on the winning side of the third set.
The Ladycats picked up a 25-22 win in the third set and now carry a 2-1 set lead into the fourth set.
In the fourth set, the Ladycats wasted no time establishing an early lead and then allowed their defense to take over. The Ladycats defense played a great game in the third set as they held Schulenburg to only 14 points while the offense took care of the rest.
This pushed the Ladycats to a 4-0 district record to start the 2025 district season with an undefeated record.
The Ladycats will travel to Flatonia for their next game where they will look to improve to 5-0 on Friday, Oct. 17, when they take on the Flatonia Bulldogs at 4:30 p.m.
