Cougars blowout Raiders

The Wallis Brazos Cougars defeated the Rice Consolidated Raiders this past Friday in their home field.

The final score was 6113 in favor of the Cougars to hand the Raiders yet another loss in the 2025 season.

The game started out really fast for the Cougars as they put a couple of points on the board early. They continued to score seemingly at will, but the Raiders were not going to go down without a fight.

They were able to cut into the Cougars’ lead by finding the endzone once early in the first quarter. From that point on, the Raiders found the endzone only once more while the Cougars dominated the rest of the game.

They went on to score a total of 61 points Friday night while their defense held the Raiders to only 13 points. On top of that the Cougars’ defense even forced a fumble, but it was recovered by the Raiders.

Looking at the Raiders defense, they had their hands team ready to go on Friday night as they recovered two onside kicks Friday night.

The quarterback play in this game was very fun to watch as two of the most athletically gifted quarterbacks went toe-to-toe. Kor’Dae Johnson and Jarvse Dickerson are truly entertaining every time they touch the football and on Friday night they put on a show.

Johnson completed six of his 15 pass attempts for 74 yards while Dickerson completed nine of his 12 pass attempts for 123 yards. Johnson also carried the ball nine times for eight yards Friday night, but it was Ta’Rell Tarver who led the team with 12 carries for 64 yards.

On the Cougars side Dickerson led the team with 14 carries for 152 yards and scored five times on Friday night. Close behind him was Gael Duran who carried the ball nine times for 46 yards and two touchdowns.

Then Ricarda Alvaraz carried the ball three times for 22 yards and a touchdown during Friday night’s win.

In the receiving game for the Raiders, Tarver once again led the team with two catches for 28 yards. Close behind him was AJ Jenkins who also caught two passes for 17 yards on Friday night.

In the Cougars receiving game, coach Patrick Oliver was proud of their performance as he is a former wide receiver. Conner Bertrand caught three passes for 57 yards and a touchdown.

But it was actually Jevan Dickerson who led the team with 84 yards on three catches, and then JT Miles caught three passes for 42 yards. Chase Kuhn and Jevan Dickerson each recorded one interception for the Cougars Friday night, with them returning those interceptions for 15 yards and 22 yards respectively.

The Raiders will return home to take on Industrial on Friday, Oct. 17, while the Cougars will hit the road on Friday, Oct. 17, to take on Boling with both games starting at 7:30 p.m.
