Friends of Weimar Library to host Granger

Friends of the Weimar Public Library will host Master Certified Naturalist, Marvelyn Granger on Friday, Oct. 24 at 10 a.m. at the Weimar Public Library.

Granger will present the program, “Foraging Native Plants: The Flavors of Texas”. This program will introduce edible plants that we may not have realized are edible or have medicinal benefits.

Hoping to spark an interest in foraging and its benefits is only one of the goals of our latest program. In addition, attendees will see the interdependencies of plants and humans and will in turn foster a deeper curiosity about native plants.

Granger, vice president of the Fayette Prairie Chapter of the Native Prairie Association of Texas, combines her passion for environmental conservation with a commitment to lifelong learning.

As an increasing number of people are moving to rural areas, the commitment to responsible land management is essential. Granger has accepted that responsibility with a commitment to accountable land management and willingly provides educational growth to empower local communities with an understanding of the importance and benefits of restoring Texas prairies to their native state.

Friends of the Weimar Public Library strives to bring inspirational, educational, and fun programs to the Weimar community. All are welcome to this free program. RSVP to the Weimar Public Library by calling 979-725- 6608.
